Monza GP

by Roger on Sep.14, 2007, under F1

I must start this GP post (which I intend to write for every race from here on out) saying that I am biased to Mclaren as a team and Alonso as a pilot. I must also adimt that I dislike Ferrari and Massa. And the more I find out about Hamliton the less I like him. That aside lets move on to what I thought of the race.

The Monza GP was probably one of the best Formula 1 races in a long time. Alonso was clearly better than the rest of them as he has been in the last few races and he was finally rewarded with the hat trick: fastest lap, pole position and race win.

The race was also significant in the sense that it was the first time ever that Mclaren scored a one two in Monza, Ferrari’s home race. Even better yet was the fact that only one Ferrari finished and it was not Massa.  The championship is close between the top two teams, Ferrari and Mclaren and the Driver championship is very close between those teams drivers. The constructors championship should be in the bag for Mclaren unless something sinisters happens, like the FIA removing all of their championship points in which case Ferrari would in fact be handed the championship.

The drivers title is not so clear with only 3 points between Hamilton and Alonso and the two Ferrari drivers close behind. I believe Alonso has it in him to take this championship and make it three in a row with Hamilton finishing right behind.

We shall see what happens next weekend at Spa.

Before ending this I wanted to share a couple of youtube videos that I found the other day. They are of the Renault F1 ’singing’. Enjoy.

Grand Prix du Canada

by Roger on Jun.22, 2007, under Canada, F1

Well Lisa probably mentioned the prettyness of Montreal but the real sites were at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Mike and I got tickets to see the Gran Prix and it was just simply amazing.I decided to get us tickets for the general admission and I must say I was a little weary about lining up to snatch a place in line. As it turns out it worked out pretty nicely for us.The one thing I would say is that if you want to actually see the cars and be able to follow the race you should get an assigned seat for the weekend. However nothing can beat being next to the track when the cars go flying by. The video will give you an idea of what I mean.
