The Chicken Parm bet

by Roger on Jul.17, 2010, under Life

On a recent business trip I heard about a very unique bet between two of my coworkers. As with most bets, this one started after a few drinks had been had and it was clearly not fully thought out. The bet: Martin (not his real name) bet Joe (someone’s real name but not his) that he would have a certain NBA superstar over for dinner to eat his famous Chicken Parmesan before the end of 2010.

Clearly you don’t make a bet like that unless you think you have a good chance to win it. And of course Martin has an in, a connection if you will, with said superstar. You see his wife went to the same high school as this NBA player and, not only that, he’s got the yearbook to prove it. So we asked him if his wife and Mr. NBA knew each other. And they sort of did, the NBA guy was in the basketball team and Martin’s wife was in the drama club… so I’m sure they must have been really close friends.

We’re not sure what his plan is but he seems pretty determined that he’ll come through. Given what they’ve bet I think he’ll go to any extent that he can in order to make it possible.

I’ll keep you updated as to how far Martin will go in order to get this guy over to his house for Chicken Parm.
